There are a lot of benefits to coilovers apart from the obvious ease of spring swapping and ride height adjustment, but they are important benefits as spring and shock tuning allows you to set up the suspension to suit your car much better than with any other system. The spring coiling the shock means that the shock and spring operate at the same rate regarding the wheel rate. This makes it easier to understand why a change in one has a certain affect. Also, placing the coilover closer to the axis center line will have a spring & shock rate closer to the wheel rate. This enables you to respond quicker to the wheel movements and it's more sensitive to smaller movements. Furthermore the shock is more rigidly mounted for maximum durability of the package. The spring’s rate is designed to optimize the suspension movement very closely. Then there's the benefit of the shocks being rebuild-able, re-valve-able and generally much higher quality than OE shocks. Furthermore the coilovers give absolute true independence and allow you to fine tune the rear suspension much closer. Unlike the transverse leaf which reduces the true independence. With a turn of a knob you can make the shock stiffer for track days and soften them to hit the street for ride comfort. This kit was not designed just for racers by any means. It was designed for the personalization and the uniqueness of the design, to be cost effective and to increase spring rates to customize the ride and handling of their Corvette.
